Tether Salon — Class 1 – Mar

This weekly series is an invitation to explore the foundational methods I personally use in my rope practice. Class 1 is a prerequisite for further training within the Tether Salon Rope School. It is designed for people who have completed Class 0 or have a proven understanding of rope bondage/shibari.

Class 1 covers the initial steps toward progressing through the classes within the Tether Salon Rope School.

Pricing
• $60 cash on the night (per class)
• $400 for the full 8-week series

Each booking admits two participants. All bookings are non-refundable except in exceptional circumstances.

Inside Class 1
In Class 1, you will learn and repeat patterns tied standing, seated, or on the floor, across different body parts. You will also receive an over-explanation of why wraps are placed in select areas of the body.

Students who attend all 8 classes, or who demonstrate readiness to progress, will be invited to graduate to Class 1 by performing in a complimentary 9th class held at the end of the course.

Topics include (but aren’t limited to):

• Anatomy of rope placement for each harness
• Chest harnesses: hands behind, hands in front, hands free
• Legs: calf binder, futomomo, leg-cuff
• Monoblock
• Transitions on the ground
• Class challenges
• These classes involve repetition, so do your homework, kids! Participants are encouraged to document their learning with notes and photos and to practice between sessions to allow the work to settle into the body.

What to Bring

Participants should have completed Class 0 or have a proven understanding of rope bondage/shibari.

Please bring:

• A camera or phone (smart glasses are permitted for class use only)
• Notepad and pen
• A blindfold
• Rope and safety cutters (if you have them)
• Your own set of four 8m ropes

Please arrive 15 minutes early. We start on time.

Your Teacher

Your facilitator, Claire (Jute Rope Claire), is the founder of Tether Salon, where she also curates events.

With more than seven years devoted to rope bondage, Claire’s practice is shaped by personal exploration, continued study, and learning from respected local, interstate, and international educators. Her Shibari journey began in 2018 at Urban Fetish, sparked by a first rope experience that fundamentally altered her relationship with sensation, stillness, and safety.

Grounded in Japanese aesthetics and informed by a rope switch’s perspective, her style blends sensuality, sadism, and domination. Influenced by teachers including Namakai (Red Rigger), Evil Girls, Supaku, Sparks & Rope Tales, and visiting Naka Akira in Japan, Claire brings a considered, expressive approach to form, suspension, transitions, and rope as lived experience.
